Photos: When Friends Come to Read

Some of you might have friends over for dinner or a party, but at our house you can bet our little ones would walk up to you with a book.  It's always special to read with someone new.  We're very grateful that so many friends took the time to share stories with our kids.

Special Father's Day Post: Reading with Dad

Daddy works nights, so it's very special for him to read bedtime stories.

Here they are in the rocker.  Can you tell we went through a Thomas the Tank Engine phase?

Cereal and Comics.  Classic Sunday Morning!

Tucking Daddy in for the Day.

First double bedtime! Captured a rare moment of quiet.

Photos: Reading with Momma

In the same nursery with each kid.  Until they went to kindergarten I read with them for about a half hour a day, and then at bedtime.  Of course they had their favorites, but I always liked finding new titles at the library.

Photos: Brothers Who Read

When our oldest learned to read he would occasionally take over the bedtime routine for the little brother.  Great bonding and one proud Momma!

Photos: Reading with Uncle Mike

Godfather to this little one and he just can't say no to that sweet face!

We only had bunk beds for one summer, but it was great for reading to both kids at the same time.

Somehow he always managed to show up at bedtime....

Looks like a another pirate board book!

Photos: Generations

Each of us learns to read from the previous generation of readers.  Think of someone in your life who made reading a fun memorable activity.  Are you this person for someone else?  Pass on the passion!

My Grandpa and I in about 1983.  There are photographs of him reading in this same armchair to each one of his five grandchildren.

My Dad reading to my cousin and I.  We're ready for bed in our pink jammies!

Birthdays mean brand-new books!  What else would you expect from my mom who was a librarian for 22 years?
