Booklist: Winter Theme

Even though this is a summer reading themed blog I can't ignore the fact that we've already had a snow day in our district!  So with holiday time approaching and more snow on the way there is plenty of time for winter-themed books.
Here are some of our favorites:

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas by Dr Seuss, we actually read this all year long, the nonsense words and fun rhyming patterns make it a great read-aloud

The Snowy Day, Ezra Jack Keats- The illustrations in this are beautiful and kids can usually relate to a day spent playing in the snow.

Axel Annie, by Robin Pulver- Experience a snow day in the life of an ambitious bus driver!

Snow, by PD Eastman- Great for beginner readers

The Blizzard, by Betty Wren Wright- Story about a class stuck in a blizzard

Winter of the Ice Wizard, by Mary Pope Osborne- Our two heroes go on an arctic expedition.
